Psilocybin is moving through the FDA process.
Psilocybin is an investigational medicine in the United States. It is not legal to prescribe, purchase, or use outside of research settings, and Ohio has no separate legal pathway.
The picture is changing, though. Two large Phase 3 trials of a psilocybin medicine for treatment-resistant depression have reported positive results, and the company behind them has begun a rolling submission to the FDA. A decision is widely expected between late 2026 and 2027. Other psilocybin programs are close behind.
Approval would not mean psilocybin everywhere.
If the FDA approves a psilocybin medicine, it would remain tightly controlled. Federal rescheduling would come first. Treatment sites would need registration and certification under a federal safety program, with trained clinicians, onsite dosing, and monitoring. No take-home use.
That model is close to how we already practice. LuminaThera is preparing so that, if approval comes, we can offer psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy inside the same container we use for ketamine today. Preparation is not availability. Until the law changes, our psilocybin work is education and integration support only.
