Jay Karr
Co-Founder, Clinical Director, Therapist
Clinical Director & Lead Facilitator. Trauma-informed therapist and KAP provider, certified in Psychedelic Therapy and Integration.
About
Jay co-founded LuminaThera to widen access to psychedelic-assisted therapy through group work, and he leads the practice as Clinical Director and lead facilitator. He has practiced ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) since 2022. His work rests on one conviction: a secure relationship is part of the medicine, and ethics is how that care is held safely.
He came to therapy after 16 years in technology and marketing, earning an M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. That turn still shapes his work. His approach is relational, humanistic, and existential, and draws on EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and mindfulness. He specializes in developmental and attachment trauma, including work with PTSD.
He completed the Psychedelic Therapy and Integration certificate program through Fluence, along with KAP training and additional coursework in MDMA- and psilocybin-assisted therapies through Polaris Insight Center, MAPS/Lykos Therapeutics, and The Ohio State University.
Beyond LuminaThera, Jay runs Reclaim Your Path, his individual therapy practice, and founded the Ohio Psychedelic Therapy & Integration Network (OPT-IN), a statewide peer community. He supervises clinicians and trains others nationally, including for the American Counseling Association and Journey Clinical. In 2025, the Ohio Counseling Association recognized his work with its Professional Leadership Award.
