What a Ketamine Retreat in Ohio Actually Looks Like
Virtual preparation, three retreat days in Columbus, virtual integration. The weekend is the only travel.
Two kinds of search results, and a third option.
If you have been searching for a ketamine retreat, you have probably found two kinds of results: residential centers in other states or other countries, and infusion clinics that are not retreats at all. Ohio has a third option, and it is worth understanding how it works before you book a flight.
Is there such a thing as a legal ketamine retreat in Ohio?
Yes. Ketamine is the one psychedelic medicine that licensed clinicians can legally prescribe today, which means a retreat built around it can operate inside ordinary clinical law. No gray zone, no travel abroad, no underground facilitator. The requirements are the same as any ketamine-assisted psychotherapy: medical and psychological screening, a prescriber, onsite monitoring, and no take-home medicine.
What Ohio does not have is a residential psychedelic retreat industry. Psilocybin retreats operate in Oregon, Colorado, and overseas under different laws. In Ohio, psilocybin remains investigational. A psilocybin retreat here is not a legal offering, whatever a website may imply. Where psilocybin actually stands.
How the retreat weekend works at LuminaThera.
Before: virtual preparation. Screening, preparation, and cohort formation happen by video. You build readiness and shared language with your cohort before anyone travels.
The retreat: three consecutive days in Columbus. Supported medicine sessions with clinicians present, same-day integration, and a small cohort of nine to twelve people. Sessions are held onsite with medical monitoring. Evenings are your own: this is a retreat in the shape of the days, not a residential facility. You arrange your own lodging, and we can point you to options near the practice.
After: virtual integration. The weeks after the weekend are where the experience becomes usable. Integration sessions continue by video, so the work follows you home rather than ending when you drive away.
A retreat in the shape of the days, not a residential facility.
Why the virtual bookends matter.
They are what make this a realistic option statewide. If you live in Cleveland, Cincinnati, Dayton, or rural Ohio, the retreat weekend is the only travel. Everything else meets you where you are.
They are also clinically better than the fly-in, fly-out retreat model: preparation with the same clinicians who hold your medicine sessions, and integration that continues after the peak experience instead of ending at checkout.
How is this different from a residential retreat?
A residential retreat gives you full immersion, lodging, meals, and distance from daily life. It also usually means significant travel, higher cost, clinicians you meet on arrival, and integration that ends when the retreat does.
Our format gives you licensed clinicians who know you before the medicine work begins, legal care under Ohio clinical law, published pricing, integration that continues for weeks, and a cohort that lives within driving distance rather than dispersing across the country. The tradeoff is that you sleep in a hotel or your own arrangements, not a lodge.
Neither is wrong. They are different tools. If full residential immersion is what you need, some legitimate programs offer it out of state. If you want the retreat experience with clinical depth and a shorter distance from your actual life, that is what we built.
What does it cost?
Group KAP has three transparent tiers, from $1,800 to $2,800 for the complete arc: preparation, the retreat weekend, and integration. The prescription is a separate cost set by the prescriber and pharmacy. If cost is the barrier, write to us. Details on the Costs & Access page.
Who is this for, and who is it not for?
It fits adults who can commit to the full arc, who have or are willing to establish individual therapy support, and who want depth work held in a group. It is not a wellness getaway, a first-line treatment to try casually, or a fit for everyone medically. Screening is real, and sometimes the answer is a different kind of care. Safety and screening covers the boundaries plainly.
Cohort dates and enrollment status are listed with each upcoming group.

Orientation, not an assessment
